Well the concept may look alright on paper but by the time gov’t is through working it over ,it will very likely cost the actual ‘payers’ a heck of a lot more in the end…So, be very careful what you wish for, as you may eventually get it..
This needs a separate entity other than doctors and politicians, many of whom have obvious conflicts of interest. It would be however very hard to find someone with the wisdom of Solomon to take this on for the benefit of the most important group, being the end users or what we call ‘patients’. I would not let the idea die as there are some good things that could occur but it is not without risk. “Thoughtful discussion” seems the right road to take, and this will never occur in the time of a federal election from our recent experience in such debacles!
National sigle-payer program? You mean like healthcare – run by government? Only bureaucrats could believe such a system would work. Those of us less ‘tanked’ think that only the private sector could do this satisfactorally. So you pays for what you take at the counter or you buys somebody’s insurance.
