Saying that women MP’s have three times the chance of making the cabinet is sort of like saying that MP’s from Atlantic Canada have four times the chance of making the cabinet .. when conditions occur so that the party in power has very few MP’s elected from our region
“Reform” indeed. And wouldn’t we agree that Harper reformed the PCs, which Margaret Thatcher explained to Mulroney as being too much of the adjective and not enough of the noun … ?
Can we ever expect to shake off what 100 years of ‘democratic’ socialism has infused the population with ?
The left (NDP & Liberals) outvoted the Harper “base” (1/3rd of voters), and can only keep up the ‘singing and dancing’ by pushing back against the discipline of attempted Conservative ‘change’. It kind of reminds me of the third little pig, who built his ‘house’ solidly – looking unduly dour to the 2/3 ‘majority’ .
Can we then, anticipate much “reform”; or is it more likely that the majority will ‘restore’ familiar Keynesian ways ?
