How Not To Do Provincial Cooperation

  • “Hi Mr Black, your column on the ALC has really made people aware how dys the ALC has become. While you dealt with the subject as you did, perhaps some day soon you may wish to make your readers aware that when the ALC was set up, the profits were originally ear marked toward amateur sports for each of the provinces involved. However, some where along the line the provinces started dipping into the money and have been getting away with it for 40 years. Sad. Thought you should know.

  • Part of your article touches on the biggest problem this province has that the other 3 provinces do have and that is the Nova Scotia gaming corp [or what ever they are called now} for the longest time this crown corp had become a parking spot for friends and neighbours of the party in power we as a province loss hundreds of millions of dollars because of the decisions made by this corporations superstar bingo, keno, and the responsible gaming cards cost the taxpayers a lot of money. The gaming corp looked at alc as a bank and their employees who did their bidding. The problem is that the gaming court spent more time on trying to push responsible gaming then building a brand the problem with this is that it was run by a few people who did not know what the hell the were doing { responsible gaming week , very ineffective messaging advertisement, association with the world gaming association] This all cost a lot of money and the sad part of this is that alc took a lot of blame for the actions of the gaming corp

  • Why should we expect even minimal leadership from a gov’t (NS) that would authorize/permit financial exposures in ventures such as the Bluenose, the Trenton windmill venture, and on and on.
That have no sense of fiduciary duty or director obligations
    Disgraceful

    • Bill the Trenton investment belongs entirely to the previous government as does most of the Bluenose mess.

  • If it was actually possible for the ALC to go Bankrupt, it very likely would have already done so…
