Thanks Bill for sharing your insightful and knowledgeable thoughts on the five candidates vying for the leadership of the Provincial PC party.
Unfortunately your overview has not helped me make a decision as to whom to support. It seems we have one professional politician (same old same old), one political neophyte, one who might better serve as Minister of Health, one potential Minister of Agriculture and one who’s platform is “devoid of substance” – none of whom display the outstanding leadership qualities required of a Premier.
Nick we all have warts. I think that each of the candidates have merits but thought I should raise questions for people to consider. Being Premier is a big tough job and no candidate will be perfect.
I often wonder where we’d be if the way back time machine had you beating out Rodney in 2006. I think you could have defeated Stephen M easily. Jamie B was personable enough after RM stepped aside, but felt we lost a decade to malaise. My gut tells me none of these folks running will dethrone SM in the next election. SM’s policies appeal to small c conservatives. Maybe that’s why Karen C crossed the floor so easily years ago. Hope I’m wrong, but rarely am.
